This race track set is just awesome. The cars run smoothly. Speed controlers work really good. Cars come off the track if you overspeed, except on the outside rail with the railings installed. Its really a thrill to watch and operate. Lots of fun

Kid connection road race set

This slot car track is great.  The tracks are a bit tough to assemble and disassemble, but that is the only negative so far.  The people that give negative reviews because the cars "fly off" the track are idiots.  I'm sure they are pressing the "throttle" botton on the controller all the way.  That is not how you drive.  You need to give part-throttle: enough to go fast, but not too much that your car slides off the track.  It's a racing challenge and takes some skill and finesse.  That what makes it fun!  Also, it is aimed for ages 5+, so if a 2 year old can't figure it, it is not the track's fault, it is the parents fault, duh.  That being said, my 3 year old received this and with some coaching, after a few minutes, he can drive many many laps before pushing too fast and sliding off.    If you have no patience, and don't want a racing challenge, don't buy this.  I think is great and am considering adding to it.
One more thing, the brushes on the bottom of the cars are braided stainless steel.  If you are having trouble, make sure they are in the correct orientation.  It describes this in the instructions.  
This is a great set, I cannot believe it's only $15.

Great inexpensive slot car set!

Wish I had one when I was a kid! With it taking 3 C batteries, don't knock it because the cars runs around the track fine while hitting the lap counter. The lights works and you can set the track up five different ways. My cats really enjoys the track.

My cats loves it

I'm 58 years old and I had a aurora slot car set when I was growing up, so I knew what to expect with this  set! I put this together and it works great! The track sections were somewhat hard to put together (tight fitting) but once together, it makes a nice setup. The guard rails are more flimsy but they go on better than a older set that I had that were 20 years or more old! The rails do the job. The single leg bridge supports are flimsy too but still do the job. I was use to a one piece that was 2 legged for bridge . The Cars run very well off the 3 "C " batteries, ( I'm using cheap heavy duty batteries and they work well!)  My old set used 4 " D " batteries. I believe these cars run just as fast as the old set I mentioned earlier!  I believe you could buy 2 sets of this set and make a bigger track! Overall, this is a great set for the money! I forgot to mention that I was referring to a set that was about identical to this set but is probably 20 years old or more. The aurora set was totally electric that I had.

great idem for the price

Outstanding , for the low price. EZ set-up, works perfectly. My 5 yr. old grandson is in love with it. Once he got the hang of it, he races for hours.

Great track for the $$

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with this toy. I had these back in the seventies and they were much more expensive and not as good. I would give it five stars if it had better assembly instructions and no lap counter, I mainly used the box picture to put it together The instructions were laughable although not funny when your child is waiting. I do not like the lap counter, it tends to slow the cars down or stop them at low speeds too much.  Also the lap counter only works in one direction,  you can put it on backwards which will stop the cars.  My eight year old and I have played with it quite a bit today on one set of C batteries. Like driving in real life, if you go to fast, you will crash. You have to try and go fast enough to beat the other car without going too fast which makes for a lot of fun. The cars are bigger and work better than the popular slot car sets of yesteryear. We have had a lot of fun for a little expense. Box says five and up which is probably accurate although I think a little older than five will enjoy it more. My boy said it was his favorite Christmas present and it was the cheapest.

Would buy again

The first set I bought had a bad car. The second set is not yet opened.

This is not worth the money. It took longer to assemble than my kids actually played with it. It is very cheap.

Cheap

This track was very poorly constructed. It is near impossible to fully snap the tracks together as they need to be flush. My 5 year olds excitement quickly turned into disappointment. Do not waste your time. Impossible for a 5 yr old to put together and thats with mom and dads help. Was given to him as a birthday present but we will be returning soon.
