Darts and Saw Blade

The Nerf Zombie Strike Crosscut blaster has two barrels and fires 1 dart at a time. Load a dart into each barrel, pull the handle back, and pull the trigger to fire one dart. Blast a second dart, then reload quickly because zombies are always lurking nearby! The Crosscut blaster comes with 4 Zombie Strike foam darts. The Crosscut has a second defensive tool to ward off zombies; it has a foam saw blade that spins. Pull the sawblade trigger and the blade whirls around.

Blasting, Spinning Action

The Nerf Zombie Strike Crosscut blaster features 2-in-1 action to defend against the zombie invasion. The blaster fires 1 dart at a time and has a foam sawblade that spins around. A zombie-filled world is a menacing place, so make sure the Zombie Strike Crosscut blaster is nearby to defend against a zombie attack.

Averages 68 FPS; gimmicky blaster with a cool foam saw but it only has 2 shots before reloading.

Averages 68 FPS; gimmicky blaster with a cool foam saw but it only has 2 shots before reloading.
Gimmicky? Yes. Low darts per second (DPS) front-loader? Yes. Second shot weaker than the first due to smart air-restrictor (AR)? Yes. Freaking cool because you have a circular saw attached to your blaster? Yes! It is a shame this blaster was not equipped as an attachment itself. It is also a shame that the sawblade does not eject, shoot out, or detach in any way because it's function is the only thing great about it. Well, other than the fact that the average feet per second (FPS) reading according to my ProChrono Digital chronograph, is 68 FPS. Not grossly underpowered like some of the other new Nerf side-arms on the market (like the Glow Strike and Bow Strike; an exception with the Split Strike). The testing was done using the green Nerf Elite darts that it came with, but of course, it is also compatible with blue, white, orange, and decorated Rebelle darts. For those unfamiliar with the Nerf Smart AR system, the first dart chamber (top barrel) is stronger than the other barrel(s), and produces the fastest/farthest shots. The readings in the string of shots alternated between the higher 69-71 FPS from the top barrel, and the 66-69 FPS bottom barrel. There is a upper rear tactical rail attachment point for an ammo rack or optic sight. The priming handle looks like a soda can tab, and works well enough, although it feels unusual to me because I am used to blasters with a horizontal finger hole. It is not any better or worse in my opinion, it is just different. As for the foam circular saw blade, it is soft and light. But it seems to be on the small side, too small and too close to the hard plastic of the blaster that may lead to an injury if someone "barrel-taps" too hard. Which is, by the way, entirely possible given the nature and excitement in the heat of battle of a Nerf war. The lower trigger poking out on the bottom of the blaster (the pointy one, yeah, maybe it could have been a guarded trigger for safety reasons again) is to spin the saw blade by turning a gear and accelerating the wheel. Mine slips a gear tooth if I pull the trigger too hard, which doesn't take much effort to do. I also noticed that it stops spinning if I wave the blaster around, presumably because the spinning foam blade rubs against the blaster shell. Or maybe it is the internals that slow the spinning to a halt, I'm not entirely sure. But whatever the case may be, it is a bit discouraging to pull the trigger until it is up to speed and then it does not spin so well when you move around. I found a mysterious fixed tiny rectangle piece on top of the blaster that does not seem to serve any purpose at all (explanation of the last picture below). This may be knit-picky of me, but this blaster is a secondary and is not so easy to store and carry: It has no sling mount attachment points on it, is challenging to holster because of the saw part, and should not be able to fit in your pockets (I should hope not). Come to think about it, that is not being knit-picky at all. Maybe this was just something to play around with, and I'm sure someone will use a special bag to carry it around with them just for the "wow-factor" it exudes when seen in battle. Maybe not to be used as an active melee weapon, but just for "the look."
