Gameplay | Uh oh - the Fox is in the hen house! This greedy Fox is snapping up the chickens and stuffing them into his pockets. When there are too many chickens, his pants will fall down, and the chickens will escape! Rescue the chickens and return them to your chicken coop first to win! | Kids will jump for joy when they play with Jumping Jack, the world's cutest bunny! Spin the spinner to see how many carrots you get to pick from Jack's bunny hill. One of the carrots will make Jack jump, but it's a different carrot every time. If he jumps on your turn, catch him to win! | Pick a winner with Gooey Louie - who 'nose' what you'll find when you dig in and try? But watch out if you pick the wrong gooey from Louie, his eyes will pop, his head will pop open and his brain will fly out! Helps kids develop fine (and gross!) motor skills and hand-eye coordination. | Doggie Doo is everyone’s favorite pup! Feed your doggie, squeeze the leash, and after he makes his gassy sounds – plop. If you are the player who cleaned up the doo, you get a fart token. The player who has the most tokens at the end of the game wins. |

One issue he has is staying regulated once frustrated, and with turn taking. It was months that we saw his OT weekly, before games were introduced. For the past month, they have spent a short time each week, playing this game.
I didn't read about the various ways to play, I only know how our OT presented it. The gist of it is, the pig is fed food, you pump his head 5 times if the food has a 5 on it, 3 pumps if it has 3, etc. With each pump, the pig's belly expands until finally, his belt pops open Pop the Pig!
The first week, her goal was just for him to put the "food" into his mouth. This is great fine motor practice, and a practice in patience since the task was not initially easy for him.
The next week she asked him to name the number, then out the food in. Then she would help him pump the pig's head the corresponding amount of times. This part is hard for him, not sure how easy it would be for other kids.
The last two weeks, she added turn taking and asking for specific colors. This might sound simple to you, but for my child these were all big accomplishments- being able to expand the play. He lives when that belt pops open!
Each week my son would run to her game closet and pull out Pop The Pig. After the second week I put it in my Amazon wish list and I recently ordered, and received it. It will be a Christmas gift.
I can see my five year old enjoying this game with her brother, and I know my 11 year old will join in his younger siblings play, too.
I think there is tremendous value in this game, both for typical children, and those with different needs.
